For the 12th time, the House of World Cultures in Berlin awarded the International Literature Prize for outstanding foreign-language titles of contemporary literature and the first German translation. This year, the House of World Cultures (HKW) decided to honor all six authors and six translators who appeared on the shortlist: Yevgenia Belorutes and Claudia Dathe for “Glückliche Fälle”, Isabel Waidner and Ann Cotten for “Geile Deko”, James Noel and Rike Bolte for the book “Was für ein Wunder”, Angel Igov and Andreas Tretner for “Die Sanftmütigen”, and Chigozie Obioma and Nicolai von Schweder-Schreiner for “Das Weinen der Vögel”. Amir Hassan Cheheltan and Jutta Himmelreich also received the award for “The Circle of Literature Lovers”.
The International Literature Prize has a prize fund of 36,000 euros. The prize winners were announced in the program Lesart on Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
