President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The discussion focused on the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting in the Norman format on December 9, 2019, in Paris.
The Head of the Ukrainian State informed Merkel about the security situation in Donbas.
The Federal Chancellor expressed concern over the violation of the ceasefire by illegal armed groups.
The parties focused on the allocation of three additional areas of separation of forces and equipment along the line in Donbas and expressed hope for progress in this direction by the next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on February 12 in Minsk.
The President of Ukraine once again noted the need to provide free access to international humanitarian organizations, in particular, the International Committee of the Red Cross, to the detained individuals located on the uncontrolled territory of Ukraine.
The discussion also focused on the need to extend EU personal sanctions against former high-ranking Ukrainian officials suspected of misuse of state funds and committing crimes during the Maidan.
