Verkhovna Rada returns Ukrainian delegation to PACE

The Verkhovna Rada approved the resolution on the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the January session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
It was announced by the head of delegation Elizaveta Yasko on her Facebook page.

“We are going to Strasbourg to fight for Ukraine. Thank you to everyone who supported parliamentary diplomacy,” Yasko wrote.

The decision was supported by 348 deputies – the entire “Servant of the people” faction, the ” Batkivshchyna” faction, the majority of MPs and the ” Golos”. Nine deputies from the faction “European Solidarity” voted.

In June 2018, PACE adopted a resolution that allowed the Russian delegation (which in 2014 was deprived of the right to vote in the Assembly for the annexation of Crimea) to return to PACE.

During the autumn session, the leadership of the Rada did not officially submit to the PACE Secretariat the list of the new delegation for approval – as a sign of opposition to the return of the Russian delegation to the Assembly.
