Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ukraine decided to close the border for 14 days for foreign citizens, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Oleksiy Danilov said at a briefing on Friday.
“In 48 hours our country will close the border for foreign citizens. The Foreign Ministry will now inform all institutions and all countries that Ukraine’s border will be closed to foreign citizens,” he said, adding that foreigners working for diplomatic institutions and international organizations such as the UN or UNICEF will still be able to enter Ukraine.
As for Ukrainian citizens, the National Security and Defence Council recommends to limit international trips.
“All Ukrainian citizens who are currently abroad will be able to return to the country. But individuals from the countries where the coronavirus is raging today will undergo certain observation procedures ,” Danilov added.
