The Ukrainian Weeks in Bavaria 2019 started in Munich

MFA: In Munich’s Gasteig Philharmonic was held a concert of the band “Roof Doters” on the occasion of the opening of the Week of Ukraine in Bavaria.

After a magnificent tour through three continents on October 10, freak cabaret “Dakh Daughters” came to Munich. With a spectacular program that combines politics and poetry, classics and avant-garde, these girls have crossed boundaries. They sing about utopia, post-Soviet depression, war and love – they are called the voice of Ukraine, which emerged after the Maidan. Munich’s audience was very excited about the Ukrainian group.

In his welcoming speech, Yuriy Yarmilko, Consul General of Ukraine in Munich, stated that there are many reasons for celebrating this year’s Ukrainian-Bavarian relations, except for the opening of the Week of Ukraine in Bavaria itself – it is also the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Kyiv and Munich, and the 100th anniversary of the first Ukrainian Consulate General in Munich, and the opening of the Days of Ukrainian Cinema.

The opening of the Week of Ukraine in Bavaria took place with the financial support of the Ukrainian Institute, a public institution that represents Ukrainian culture in the world, and the Munich City Department of Culture

“Ukrainian Week in Bavaria” is an annual event to promote the development of a common trust and understanding between Ukrainians and Bavarians, to draw the attention of the local public to the existing cooperation between Ukraine and Bavaria, and to launch joint projects. “The Weeks were launched in 2018 by the Consulate General of Ukraine in Munich together with the State Chancellery of Bavaria.
