Domradio: This year’s “Renovabis” campaign of the Catholic Organization for Eastern Europe will be held on Trinity under the motto “Blessed are those who make peace”. East and West shared responsibility”.
“The situation in eastern Ukraine reminds us of how fragile the world is in Europe”, says Renovabis CEO Christian Hartle. Even 75 years after the end of World War II, it is still necessary to fight for peace again and again. Especially since peace should not be understood only as of the absence of war.
The peace process has to be developed
“Peace is more like a process that requires active participation,” Hartle says. It requires economic and social development, justice and freedom. Even 30 years after the end of Communist tyranny, societies in Central, Eastern, and Southeast Europe have not achieved true internal peace.
For more than a quarter-century, the Solidarity Action has been supporting project partners to improve the social, educational conditions in their respective countries. However, according to the Managing Director of Renovabis, creating or maintaining peace required also the ability to handle pressure and accept differences.
Sviatoslav Shevchuk, the Major Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) will also attend this event
