MFA: March 2020 will be a significant time for Ukraine and Switzerland.
In early spring, Kyiv will host the first official meeting of the leaders of the two countries – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal President Simonetta Sommaruga. By invitation of the Swiss delegation, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov will pay an official visit to Bern.
The meeting in Bern focused on a progress in the Ukrainian-Swiss cooperation. Awo-day working visit of the Ukrainian delegation chaired by Volodymyr Voronov, the head of the parliamentary group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on interparliamentary relations with the Swiss Confederation.
The main purpose of the visit was to establish fruitful cooperation with representatives of the newly elected Swiss parliament, who are responsible for cooperation with Ukraine, as well as to determine those outdated areas of concern in relations that required immediate attention.
During the visit, a number of meetings were held, in particular, with the co-chairman of the Friendship Group with Ukraine in the Federal Assembly Christa Markwalder, which was attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine Artem Rybchenko. The main topics of negotiations between Ukrainian and Swiss parliamentarians were cooperation in the area of international affairs, economic and business cooperation, as well as a number of humanitarian issues.
The main result of the visit was a signal from the Ukrainian side about openness and readiness to establish a fundamentally new bilateral dialogue, as well as the solution of pressing issues of Swiss companies in Ukraine.
