For a long time, it was said that the corona virus is dangerous for elderly and sick people as well as for generally healthy patients with weak lungs, such as long-term smokers and asthma patients. However, it has now become clear that younger people are also increasingly affected by coronavirus. This is why more and more young corona patients are being treated in intensive care centres in Germany – reports dpa.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) appeals to young people to follow the strict rules during the corona crisis. “I have a message for young people: You are not invincible, this virus could put you in hospital for weeks or even kill you.” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Geneva.
It is true that the greatest risk for older people is to be infected with the coronavirus Sars-CoV-2 and potentially suffer from the lung disease Covid-19. “Even if you don’t get sick the choices you make about where you go could be the difference between life and death for someone else.” said Tedros. All people should be united, across national borders and generations. “Solidarity, solidarity, solidarity,” Tedros demanded.
